Practice. Score. Reflect. Improve.
Voice conversation and scoring now happen inside EncounterLab Internal Medicine, so the learner stays in one focused workflow.

What learners will do
- 1Use a quiet setting
Headphones and a clear microphone improve turn detection and transcription.
- 2Speak naturally
Interview, counsel, explain, and respond as in real clinical practice.
- 3Use natural turn-taking
The microphone remains ready while the patient speaks, so you may interrupt appropriately. Repeated interruption more than five times is noted in the score report.
- 4End intentionally
Say “End encounter” to trigger automatic scoring.
Use the simulator responsibly
01Use fictional information only; never enter PHI or real patient details.
02Encounter audio and text are sent through this EncounterLab Internal Medicine deployment’s OpenAI API project.
03Scores are formative AI feedback, not a credentialing or employment determination.
04Faculty should validate rubrics and scoring performance before high-stakes use.
Each case runs in this dashboard through secure Netlify Functions. Male patients use a masculine voice profile; female patients use a feminine voice profile. A separate evaluator scores the completed transcript, while API quotas, budget reservations, and hard timeouts protect usage. Administrators can edit master case files and replace patient photographs from the Admin area without changing code.
